106. Opoponax (Commiphora erythraea - Somalia)

Opoponax oil or sweet myrrh is steam distilled from the crude oleogum resin. It's described as having antispasmodic, expectorant and antiseptic properties, which used to be employed in asthma, hysteria and visceral afflictions. This orange-yellow essential oil is a useful material as a fixative and fragrance component in high-class perfumery, which offer sweet, balsamic and almost effervescent in character. Orris Butter has been well known as the luxury fixative in perfumes and stabilizer in cosmetics. It high-prized extract has powdery, pleasant violet-like scent and is used primarily as fixative in perfumes to enhance other aromas. Therapeutically, it used for blood purifying, gland stimulating, increasing kidney activity and bile flow, stimulating appetite and digestion. It also used for headache and migraine. Palmarosa is much used in all skin-care preparations for its lovely fragrance, sebum-balancing and hydrating properties. It also helps to regenerate healthy new cells. 116. Plai (Zingiber cassumunar roxb - Thailand)

Plai essential oil is excellent pain reliever on joints and muscles. The undiluted Plai has been found to ease pain for upwards of 16-20 hours. The scent is cool, green and peppery.
